When we grow out of childhood, we remember only what was different and beautiful. Fortunately, time erases or beautifies every bad memory.
Do you remember the mathematics competition you participated in when you were in the third grade? Of course, you do, because it was important, because you were special at that moment, because you may have beaten others, and most of all because you defeated yourself!
Participation in competitions, exhibitions, and contests in any field and at any level has far-reaching positive effects on the cognitive, emotional-social, and physical development of children.
Competitions are special experiences that children remember because through them they do not only defeat others, but also themselves. By participating, students develop work habits, concentration, independence, and self-confidence, gain new knowledge, and learn to deal with challenges, stress, and responsibility. That is why it is important to introduce them to competitions early, with the support of teachers and parents who recognize their talents and encourage them without pressure.
The value of competitions is not only in winning, but also in the experience of effort and overcoming failure, which builds character and mental strength. Knowledge, skills, and perseverance gained during this period remain a lasting advantage and a foundation for future personal and professional success, as children who learn to work hard early become confident, mature, and capable individuals.
