EDUCATIONAL-RECREATIONAL CENTER KOSMAJ

The Educational-Recreational Center “Kosmaj” is a place where we awaken, encourage, and further develop the interests, knowledge, abilities, and skills of our students.
The center, where a specially designed program for students of the Private Primary School “Mihajlo Pupin” is implemented, is located on the slopes of Mount Kosmaj, in a natural environment, only 45 minutes from Belgrade. The facility is new and adapted to children and the teaching process, and the large fenced yard is directly connected to sports fields. The entire complex is under 24-hour surveillance and physical security.

Activities at the Center

Students observe and explore plant and animal life, natural phenomena, and space, conduct experiments, practical exercises, and field research. They grow fruit, vegetables, and herbs and use them in meal preparation.
Through artistic activities, they paint, sculpt, and write, inspired by nature, and also create functional objects that contribute to environmental protection, such as birdhouses.
Students apply mathematical knowledge in everyday situations, measure space and distances, plan resources, and learn how to prepare healthy food and develop healthy habits.
They also practically apply knowledge about recycling and environmental protection, learn how to use encyclopedias, manuals, and reliable internet sources, express their opinions, and participate in age-appropriate debates.
Together with teachers, they take care of the order and hygiene of the space they use, and sports activities are organized according to weather conditions. Students also revive old traditional games.
Guest collaborators—scientists, athletes, artists, and educators—also participate in the work of the Center, which cooperates with institutions from science, culture, economy, and sports.

During their stay at the Center, students attend regular classes in a stimulating natural environment, where they have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. Subjects from both the regular and extracurricular curriculum are practically implemented through Center activities.

Students engage with topics from various fields: biology, astronomy, physics, chemistry, mathematics, geography, history, linguistics, literature, psychology, arts, sports, entrepreneurship, and home economics, as well as topics of their own interest.

Stay at the Center

Each class spends one and a half days at the Center once a month during the school week. Each month is dedicated to a specific topic that is covered in an interdisciplinary way.

Students are accommodated in four- and six-bed rooms in a bright and pleasant environment. Together with teachers, they participate in meal preparation and take care of the space they stay in.

After all activities, they spend time socializing, walking, playing, and staying in nature.
