Collaboration in teaching is essential to make learning meaningful, functional and relatable for children. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we linked Physical and Health Education, Serbian Language, and Nature and Society, creating a lesson that was both dynamic and educationally rich.
Inspired by military exercises and historical circumstances, the pupils went through an obstacle course designed based on the strategies and tactics of our famous military leaders, with a special emphasis on resourcefulness, endurance and team spirit.
Through this approach, the pupils became little “soldier-pupils”, who approached every task with great enthusiasm. The play and movement were not an end in themselves, but a means of consolidating knowledge, fostering cooperation, and building self-confidence.
Lessons like these show that learning can be exciting, active, and deeply connected to real life. When subjects are interwoven and knowledge is brought to life through experience, children don’t just memorise; they understand, experience, and learn with joy.
